JASON
LEWIS

Founder of One Good Word...One Good Deed LLC. A movement born from pain, driven by faith, and aimed at ending bullying and racism in schools and communities.

I survived something at 16 that should have ended me, and I spent years deciding what to do with the fact that it did not. This is what I decided. I walk into gyms and auditoriums and tell kids the truth, because the words people say to each other in a building decide what that building feels like. One good word. One good deed. Every single day.

The Story

WHY I'M IN THIS

In 1992 I was 16 years old, living on my own on Detroit's Southwest side, running with a rough crowd.

One night after leaving a party I stopped at a late night coney island. A group of men followed me out. They jumped me, beat me until I could not see out of my left eye, then dragged me away.

What happened next I would not wish on anyone.

When it was over they threw me down a flight of wooden stairs onto concrete. Broken. Beaten. I could not move. My body would not respond to my mind.

Then two girls found me. Told me I was going to make it. Put me in a car and took me to an emergency room.

I was so badly damaged my own mother could barely recognize me.

I should not be here to tell you this story.

That is why I do this. Because I was that kid on that concrete floor, and not one person around me said anything.

No child should ever have to endure that.

One good word. One good deed. Every single day.

The Reality

THE REALITY BEHIND THE REASON

I survived something at 16 that should have ended me. For years I carried it silently, deciding what to do with the fact that I was still here.

Then I started watching what was happening to kids in our schools. The bullying. The racism. The quiet cruelty that builds until a child can no longer carry it.

A friend of my daughters lost her life to bullying. That is when silence stopped being an option for me.

I do not speak in schools because it is a good cause. I speak because I was the kid on that concrete floor, and I know what it costs when nobody shows up.

My faith tells me God's love is the answer. So I bring that love into gyms and auditoriums, one word and one deed at a time.

No child should ever have to endure what I endured. And no parent should have to bury a child because the people around them stayed silent.

The Reason He Fights

HIS FAMILY.

Every word Jason speaks. Every school he visits. Every life he touches - it is all for them. The survival that once felt like a miracle became a mission the day he became a father, and it deepened the day a friend of his daughters lost her life to bullying.

My Role

WHAT I DO FOR OGWOGD

Boots On The Ground

Out in the community every single day, meeting people where they are and doing the work that does not get filmed.

Community Networking

Networks everywhere he goes and unapologetically spreads One Good Word, One Good Deed to anyone who will listen.

Speaking From The Heart

Tells his story straight, unfiltered and raw, because it means that much to him. No script, no polish, just the truth about why this matters.

Local Business Partnerships

Builds relationships with local businesses and turns conversations into the sponsorships that put this program in schools that cannot pay for it.

The Spark That Lit The Flame

This started with him. Everything One Good Word, One Good Deed has become traces back to one father who refused to let it go.

Beyond OGWOGD

Jason is a father, a speaker, and an approved vendor for Wayne-Westland Community Schools, bringing anti-bullying and anti-racism education directly into classrooms, gyms, and auditoriums. Everything he does is grounded in his Christian faith and the belief that God's love is the antidote to hate.

LET'S KEEP
BUILDING.
